Kumalae Style 2 Soprano Uke

available at

Low in-store inventory, may be subject to change.

For sale we have a Kumalae Soprano Uke in very good vintage condition. Jonah Kumalae helped bring the ukulele to the masses, producing hundreds of ukuleles a month out of Honolulu by the early 1910s. His ukes won a Gold Award at the Panama-Pacific International Exposition in 1915. We believe this instrument is likely from the early 20s. There are no repairs evident. There are no cracks. There is a slight gap visible near the fret board where the neck meets the body, most likely from normal shrinkage since the neck is very solid with no movement relative to the body. The original green lined case and green felt interior bag are with the instrument. The felt bag is excellent, the leather strap and clasp on the canvas covered case is broken in a couple of spots. There is no paper label in the body. 20-1/2 inches long,  4.75" wide at upper bout, 5.85" wide at lower bout, 2.46" deep at the end block. 1.31" wide at nut. Koa with friction pegs.
