Gibson Chet Atkins CE Player
For your consideration we have this 1992 GIbson Chet Atkins CE that has come into the store. Previously owned by a working musician who figures he used it at over a couple of hundred shows, it shows cosmetic wear and tear including scratches, dents and dings. The instrument is in very good condition structurally, with a replacement pickup being the only repair reported by the previous owner. Frets and rosewood board are in fine condition. All notes ring clear on all frets up and down the neck.
The Chet Atkins CE offers up the nylon string guitar experience with a narrower fretboard than a traditional classical instrument. The result is an easier crossover for a steel string player. The under saddle active pickup offers up a very well defined clear, warm sound and is feedback resistant due to the solid body construction. The CE model has been used live over the years by many notable players including Sting, Chet (of course), Mark Knopfler, and Lindsay Buckingham.
Specs include a chambered mahogany back, spruce top, mahogany neck, rosewood fingerboard, and a transducer pickup. This CE weighs in at 7.41 lbs.
Neck: solid mahogany, slotted headstock, gold plated tuners, 1.842" wide at the nut, 25-1/2" scale, unbound flat rosewood fingerboard, 2.249" wide at 12th fret.
Body: chambered mahogany back, spruce top, natural finish, bound top.
Electronics: recessed roller knobs (volume and tone) in top bass side, under saddle transducer, active with individual string trim pots in control cavity.
This is a well played-in, structurally sound example of the Chet Atkins CE that's ready to gig with.
